Here’s every game we know is coming to Google Stadia in 2020

One of the biggest valid criticisms of Google Stadia’s launch was its limited game selection. Over the course of the last year, the library has steadily expanded with AAA and indie titles alike. However, before 2020 comes to a close Stadia still has a few more tricks up its sleeve, with over 25 games slated to arrive by the end of the year. Here’s a preview of every game we know is coming to Stadia before the end of 2020.

Stadia re-releases in 2020

For better or worse, not every game that’s being released for Google Stadia is necessarily “new.” While few of the platform’s games thus far are old enough to be considered “classics” — DOOM 64 being the only exception — some of Stadia’s upcoming releases in 2020 are simply ports from other platforms.

That being the case, these games could land on Google Stadia at almost any time in 2020, though none have been given a formal release date yet.

Assassin’s Creed series

Later this year, fans of the Assassin’s Creed series will be able to enjoy the latest title in the storied franchise with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Before that, to help Stadia players get caught up, Ubisoft is re-launching some of the more recent Assassin’s Creed titles on Stadia starting in “Holiday 2020.” Specifically, players will have a chance to play 2014’s AC: Unity which centers around the French Revolution in 1789, 2015’s AC: Syndicate taking place in London in 1868, and 2017’s AC: Origins following the events of Egypt circa 49 BC.

Destroy All Humans! [minor rework]

Back in the PlayStation 2 era of games, Pandemic and THQ wowed us with a hilarious parody of the Cold War era and its alien conspiracies, giving you an opportunity to use bizarre weapons to do as the game’s title suggests and Destroy All Humans! Fast forward to 2020, THQ Nordic has resurrected this franchise with a fresh take on the game’s first entry, and is bringing it to Google Stadia sometime in 2020.

El Hijo

El Hijo is a wild west themed game following a six-year-old boy, which sets itself apart by being a non-violent stealth game. Instead of defeating enemies, you need to use your stealth and puzzle-solving skills to cross the desert and reunite mother and son.

Family Feud

Are you ready to play Family Feud? Survey says, “yes!” PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia players will have access to the game starting November 12*. This version of the popular game show, which pits two groups in a competition to guess the most popular answers to a variety of questions, includes a Classic mode (a team of up to five players can play against the AI), Party Battle mode (group vs. group via local multiplayer), and Couch vs. Couch mode (play against other groups online).

Far Cry 5 / New Dawn

Continuing their tradition of making older games available ahead of new releases, Ubisoft is bringing two Far Cry games to Stadia ahead of Far Cry 6 next year. While the main, numbered Far Cry games are generally disconnected from one another, Far Cry 5 and Far Cry New Dawn both take place in the fictional region of Hope County, Montana. Both games center around a doomsday cult in rural America, with New Dawn showing the aftermath of the prophesied apocalypse.

FIFA 21

Football is back with EA SPORTS™ FIFA 21, featuring more ways to team up on the street or in the stadium to enjoy even bigger victories with friends.

FIFA 21 is slated to release on Google Stadia by the end of the year.

Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek

Madden NFL 21

Mafia: Trilogy

Monster Jam Steel Titans

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sniper Elite 4

A re-release of 2017’s Sniper Elite 4 was announced for Stadia, which should come as no surprise to fans of the developer Rebellion, as Zombie Army 4: Dead War has already released on Stadia and the two series are very closely related. Sniper Elite 4 puts you in the boots of a World War 2 sniper as you use stealth and smart tactics to win battles in a larger effort to liberate Italy.

While not officially slated to be coming in 2020, the re-release was announced back in July as “coming soon.”

Stadia exclusive games in 2020 [Rewrite]

For years now, the console wars have been decided based on the exclusives. As it stands today, God of War and Sea of Thieves each make a strong case for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively. Looking ahead to the end of 2020, there’s only been one full exclusive announced for Google Stadia so far, but we know that more are on the way from Stadia Games & Entertainment.

New Stadia releases in 2020

While re-releases are important, as they open up the games to a new audience via Stadia, what really makes Google Stadia worth the while is instant access to the latest titles. As of now, eleven yet-to-be-released games have been announced as Stadia titles, with almost all having confirmed that the Stadia version will be released side-by-side with other platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077

Without a doubt, the most exciting title shown at E3 2019 was Cyberpunk 2077, from CD Projekt Red, famous for The Witcher series of games. As the “Cyberpunk” name implies, the game features an incredible design and graphical style showing the harsh downsides of a combined technological boom and societal collapse. Given the emphasis on technology, what better way to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 when it releases — on November 19 — than on Google Stadia?

Brought to you by the same folks that created Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Gods & Monsters is Ubisoft’s answer to Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game, due out on December 3, 2020, puts you in the shoes of a long-forgotten hero, sought out by the gods of Greek mythology to defeat Typhon, the father of monsters.

Watch Dogs Legion

As you may have noticed by now, Ubisoft has gone all-in on Google Stadia. Following on from Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, their next flagship title to land on Stadia is Watch Dogs Legion. The third entry in the Watch Dogs series takes place in London and has you recruit just about anyone to be a unique, playable character that’s a part of your resistance movement, for better or worse. Watch Dogs Legion launches on Google Stadia and beyond on October 29, 2020.

Windjammers 2

Over 25 years ago, Data East released a hyper-stylized take on Pong in the form of Windjammers. Dotemu, the studio responsible for the game’s 2017 re-release, is modernizing the game and adding new mechanics in the sequel, Windjammers 2. Rather than using the original game’s sprites as the inspiration for the revamped title, Dotemu is bringing hand-drawn characters based on the arcade cabinet’s art. Windjammers 2 was set to release last year, before facing some development delays, and is now slated for sometime in 2020.
