The Advanced Protection Program offers Google’s strongest security protections to protect against account takeovers. It’s now easier to sign up for APP with the ability to use phones, both iOS and Android, as security keys.
Last year, Google announced that all Android 7+ devices can be used as two-factor authentication when signing into Gmail, Drive, and other first-party services. Most modern iPhones can now be used as a built-in phone security key for Google apps.
Back in April, Google turned every Android 7.0+ device into a security key for signing into Gmail and other first-party services. Log-ins made on iOS devices can now be authenticated using those Android security keys.
Last year at Cloud Next, Google announced its own Titan Security Key as part of a push to encourage two-step verification. These small devices fight phishing by requiring a physical confirmation that you are the one logging into an account. Google today announced that all Android 7+ phones can be used as security keys to sign into the company’s services.
